I’m not really sure how I got on their list but, ever since August of last year, I’ve been receiving emails from the American Marketing Association.
It’s evident by viewing their emails that they are not familiar with email best practices. If you look at the two screen shots below, you’ll see that what was intended (in the Online Version) is not what is experienced in the Inbox.

Notice how the Email is missing the background images? Savvy Email Marketers know that what renders in a browser does not always render in email and go through extensive testing across multiple email clients to ensure the best possible experience for all.
Needless to say, I found it very interesting that the American Marketing Association would let content like this out the door without reviewing it for issues like these. I found it even more interesting that they have webcasts on “Email Strategies to Maximize Your Marketing ROI”. Perhaps some brushing up on Best Practices would serve them better.
